CMI Washington State Market Basket Report

The Can Manufacturers Institute Science, Technology and Regulatory Committee submitted written comments to the Washington State Department of Ecology to provide the latest information regarding the industry’s transition to alternative can liners and dispel speculation regarding the use of BPA analogs in alternative can liners. While can industry statistics indicate more than 95 percent of all U.S. food can production has transitioned out of BPA to alternative liners there was no data regarding food cans currently in the market place. To address this data gap the Committee conducted a Market Basket Survey of canned foods in Seattle and Yakima.
