Ardagh Metal Packaging and Crown Holdings are collaborating with the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI) and the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) to organize a Global Aluminium Can Sustainability Summit with leaders from across the aluminium beverage can value chain. This meeting will focus on two critical objectives to enhance the aluminium beverage can’s sustainability credentials:
1. discuss how to operationalise the decarbonisation of aluminium produced for can sheet and
2. generate transparent information on recycling and circularity including how to measure recycled content.
The summit is expected to draw the most senior executives from organizations globally across the aluminium beverage can value chain. Ardagh Metal Packaging and Crown Holdings’ chief executive officers, beverage brand C-suite executives and select NGO leaders will address aluminium beverage can value chain attendees on the need for decisive climate action in the near-term. The aluminium can value chain must do its part to reduce planet-warming emissions while simultaneously strengthening the can’s sustainability credentials against competitive substrates. Achieving decarbonization and measuring recycled content are critical to this effort.
