- Which cans are not magnetic?
- Does the can attract the magnet? Does the can make the compass needle move? On your data sheet, record "yes" or "no" for each can.
- How much does each can weigh?
- Weigh each can on the scale. Record the weight on your data sheet in the row labeled "weight."
- Can cans float?
- Try to float each can by putting it on its side in the bucket of water. Observe whether it sinks or floats. How long does it take before water filling the can makes it sink? Record "yes" for float, "no" for sink. Also record how many seconds it took for the can to begin sinking. Decide if this is a good test for this material.
